# Gateway Lines > Gateway Lines is an ocean freight forwarder and NVOCC, licensed by the U.S. Federal > Maritime Commission as both a Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier and an Ocean Freight > Forwarder. Gateway moves full container (FCL) and consolidated (LCL) ocean freight into > the United States, issues its own House Bill of Lading, and files ISF and AMS in its own > name. Customs clearance, drayage, cargo insurance and emissions reporting run on the same > platform, so one company appears on the contract and one invoice covers the move. Gateway shows current ocean spot market rates by lane on a public board that anyone can read without an account. Each figure is a spot market read with its read date, not a Gateway quote: a firm Gateway quote is requested separately, comes in below spot for confirmed shipments, and regular volume can move to contracted pricing. Import duties are priced before booking rather than discovered at customs entry. The tariff engine behind every Gateway quote is free to use and covers Section 301, Section 232 and the rest of the active U.S. tariff schedule, sourced from the USITC Harmonized Tariff Schedule and CBP guidance. The software platform (container tracking, documents, port intelligence, load planning, tariff tools) is included with the freight and is not sold as a subscription. Gateway earns on the container. ## Free public tools - [Tariff and duty calculator](https://tariff.gatewaylines.com): Landed duty on any HTS code by country of origin, including Section 301, Section 232 and other active U.S. trade actions. - [HS code search](https://tariff.gatewaylines.com/hs-code-search): Find the Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification for a product. - [HTS code pages](https://tariff.gatewaylines.com/hts): One page per US HTS code with the official USITC description, the general rate of duty and the China tariff stack (Section 301, Section 232, forced labor, AD/CVD) priced live. - [Worked duty examples](https://tariff.gatewaylines.com/examples): Real import duty calculations by HTS code and country of origin (laptops, T-shirts, furniture, steel, EVs and hundreds more), with every duty line and CBP fee shown. - [China Section 301 exclusions](https://tariff.gatewaylines.com/section-301-exclusions): The 178 China Section 301 product exclusions in force until 11:59 p.m. ET November 9, 2026, with every product description, HTS code and the Section 301 list each lifts. - [Tariff Radar](https://tariff.gatewaylines.com/tariff-radar): Every United States tariff change as it happens, each entry citing its Federal Register document or CBP CSMS message, with free email alerts. - [Tariff MCP server](https://tariff.gatewaylines.com/mcp): Free MCP server that lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Claude Code answer US import duty questions from the same live tariff engine, with Federal Register citations. - [Chinese tariff calculator](https://tariff.gatewaylines.cn): The same calculator, HS code search, tariff index and FAQ in Simplified Chinese, for exporters in China shipping to the United States. It holds Federal Maritime Commission licenses as both an NVOCC and an Ocean Freight Forwarder. - Accounts on the customer platform are opened after a manual review, so there is no instant self serve signup. The public tools above need no account. - Rates shown on the public board are spot market reads for the stated lane, container size and read date. They are not Gateway quotes. - Duty figures from the tariff tools are calculated from the live U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule and published trade actions. They are an estimate for planning and are not a customs ruling.
